Our Story

Our brewery started in 2010 west of Port Angeles behind Harbinger Winery where we sold our beer in their tasting room. On brew days, you could hear Tom brewing to the tunes of Pearl Jam, Bob Marley, The Grateful Dead, Led Zepplin, and so on. Tom’s California beer-drinking youth provided him with a strong affinity for the pioneers of micro-brewing, back when Sierra Nevada, Pete’s Wicked, and Mendocino Brewing were small craft brewers.

In December of 2012 we moved the brewery and opened our own taproom on the Port Angeles waterfront, at our Railroad Avenue location. In November 2015 we brought on Josh Blue (formerly of Hop Crew) as Head Brewer, and in December of 2015 we added the artisanal pizza restaurant. The fusion of high quality, small batch, craft brews, hand-made, artisanal pizza and warm friendly hospitality has made Barhop an extension of our home. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do!

Larry White
Head Chef

Larry is a Port Angeles local, skater, Volkswagen enthusiast, and artist. You can see his paintings hanging on our walls, and taste the creativity in the food that comes out of our kitchen.

Natalie White
Manager

Natalie was born and raised in Port Angeles, WA. Her love for the Pacific Northwest, her family, and her passion for craft beer is what got her into the business. She and her father Tom are very close, which creates a continuing, successful growth of the business. Her husband, Larry, runs the kitchen. “There is nothing better than working with the people of our community, and tourists to provide a true, hand made ingredient for people!”

Josh Blue
Head Brewer

Growing up in the northwest, Josh cut his teeth on beers like Rainier and Olympia. It wasn’t until he got his first homebrew kit in 2011 that he realized there could be so much more! In 2014, Josh opened his nano brewery, The Hop Crew. IPA heavy, it was his labor of love.  It was a lot of work and a good lesson in commercial brewing. In November 2015 he put that aside and took on the head brewer position at Barhop. It was a perfect fit. His style of hop forward beers with a northwest flair matched Barhop’s already successful mission to provide top quality beer to the Olympic Peninsula. Josh’s goal is to bring the best beer possible to the best place on earth! Cheers!
